Background

Sewa International is redefining Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by championing innovative strategies that emphasize sustainability, inclusivity, and long-term impact. Building on the success of last year’s CSR meet, Talk 4 Tomorrow: Corporate Philanthropy Shaping the Future of New Bharat, this year’s CSR Conclave 2025 delves deeper into how CSR can tackle pressing social challenges through a more strategic and systematic approach

This year’s theme aligns with the global emphasis on sustainable development and the role of the private sector in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Across the world, CSR is being viewed as an essential tool for addressing issues like climate change, inequality, health, education, and economic resilience. In India, CSR’s significance has grown exponentially since the Companies Act, 2013, mandated corporate contributions to social development. With India’s vision of becoming a $5 trillion economy and the goal of achieving Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India), CSR now plays a critical role in bridging public service gaps and empowering grassroots communities.

The relevance of the conclave is underscored by government initiatives such as Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) and the National Education Policy 2020, which stress sustainability, innovation, and localized development. However, the real challenge lies in ensuring CSR investments are directed toward areas of genuine need, avoiding redundancy, and fostering accountability. Systematic planning and collaboration are essential for translating corporate contributions into meaningful change.

Last Year Impact

Last year’s event created a vibrant platform where diverse stakeholders explored how philanthropy could intersect with sustainability and inclusivity to drive meaningful change. The 2025 edition, themed "CSR Reimagined: Systematic and Strategic Approaches to Impact", expands on these discussions by addressing emerging trends such as investment-driven CSR models and the Social Stock Exchange (SSE), a pioneering initiative in India that connects social enterprises and NGOs with funding opportunities. This theme reflects the increasing recognition of CSR as a key lever to achieve scalable, long-term solutions for global and local challenges.

In our previous edition, the event witnessed participation from over 80 attendees, including representatives from 25+ corporate entities who engaged with the stalls set up by 25 NGOs. This milestone marked a significant success for the organization, as it not only launched a new initiative but also achieved a remarkable impact.

CSR Conclave 2025: A Way Forward

The urgency of this dialogue becomes clear when considering the realities on the ground. Many rural communities still struggle with inadequate access to education, healthcare, and livelihoods, while facing mounting environmental challenges like water scarcity and climate vulnerabilities. These complex issues demand not just isolated efforts but integrated, long-term solutions that combine corporate resources with local insights and needs.

The CSR Conclave 2025 will highlight exemplary practices, innovative models, and thematic case studies from partner organizations. These case studies will showcase how leveraging geographic diversity, local knowledge, and cultural context can create lasting impact. The conclave brings together thought leaders, policymakers, corporates, and grassroots organizations, fostering collaboration and shared learning to address development challenges.

Through a focus on systematic planning and strategic execution, the conclave seeks to redefine CSR as a catalyst for social innovation, inclusive development, and sustainable impact. It seeks to align corporate investments with the needs of communities, while responding to the broader socio-economic priorities of India and the world. The 2025 conclave stands as a crucial step toward transforming CSR into a powerful catalyst for sustainable development and a better future.
