The second wave of Covid-19 claimed a total of 367,097 lives in India out of which 64% were men and 40% were aged somewhere between 21-40, being the only earning members. A huge number of women lost their spouses and have been left completely traumatized and paralyzed with helplessness not just emotionally, but also financially.  47% of earning women also lost their jobs due to the pandemic.

We at Sewa International believe that these women, with a little push, can be empowered to stand on their own two feet and start a new life. Through our project SHE-CAF, we hope to identify these women and rehabilitate them by providing certified livelihood skill training courses, counseling sessions, and placements and overlook the entire process till the very end.

A total of 2000 beneficiaries will be identified for the same.

Project Objectives

• Provide holistic counseling and support (Livelihood skills Training and placements) to women adversely affected by the pandemic.
• Hone existing skills of women from tribal and rural communities

Long Term Impact

With initiatives like SHE-CAF, we want to create awareness and ripples across society to empower women who underwent major losses and are ready to take control of their lives and inspire more people around them to do the same.

Our goal is to bring down the rising levels of poverty and unemployment that have occurred because of Covid-19.

Tailoring - Stitching, Sewing & embroidery

• Duration: 2-3 months.
• Basic and advanced tailoring & design techniques.
• Special focus on making bags, sanitary napkins, current market demands in tailoring needs, etc.
• Cap-Ex support in the form of tailoring machines provided to select identified & needy beneficiaries.
• Connect women with organizations for jobs/support for self-employment.
• Help improve their general awareness, self-confidence and make them more prepared for a work environment.
• Sessions on trauma counseling and support for women severely impacted and lost their loved ones.
• Follow up sessions with women beneficiaries for up to 3 months post-program completion.

Beauty and Wellness

• Duration: 2-3 months
• Hand holding women during job placements at an Urban clap, beauty salons, YLC, etc.
• Follow up sessions with women beneficiaries for up to 3 months post-program completion

Computer Training for Office Management

• Requirement: prior educational background (12th Grade/ Diploma/ Degree in any field)
• Duration: 2-3 months
• Computer training, Personality Development, and Soft skill training making the aspirants more employable
• Training include job placements at – Call centre/customer service executive jobs, medical transcription, voice to data conversion jobs, office admins, data entry jobs, Teleservice, back-office assistants at online delivery giants - Amazon, Swiggy, Myntra, Big Basket, supermarket cashiers, etc
• Resume building sessions, mock interviews, and placement support
• Follow up sessions with women beneficiaries for up to 3 months post-program completion
• Course completion certificate

Elderly Aid and Child Support

• Requirement: minimum educational background ( 12th standard)
• Training for jobs such as support staff at nursing homes, rehabilitation centres & old age homes, child caretaker, senior citizen caretaker at homes
• Includes Personality Development and Spoken English/Hindi making the aspirants more employable
• Course Duration - 2-3 months per course
• Resume building sessions, mock interviews and placement support
• Training program will train beneficiaries in areas such as –
  1. Homecare, First Aid
  2. Charting and modifying patient routine
  3. Diet and nutrition for child/elderly, drugs and
  4. dosage
  5. Elderly support & infant care
  6. Communication skills
• Follow up sessions with women beneficiaries for up to 3 months post-program completion
