Maharashtra Flood Update 2019

Incessant rains, flood wreak havoc in Maharashtra resulting in several districts being isolated due to heavy rainfall, which has killed more than 55 people in the last few days. Among the districts, Sangli and Kolhapur are the worst affected districts in the state. The torrential rains in Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur districts of western Maharashtra have destroyed many kharif crops as well as sugarcane. Preliminary estimates show that farmland of about 40,000 hectares have been completely flattened in Satara district alone.

Volunteers of Being Volunteer Foundation, our partner organization have tirelessly been engaged in search and rescue operations, the relief materials collection and distribution in the flood hit areas specially Sangli and Kolhapur as follows:

  • Search and Rescue Operations
  • Set up relief camps and shifting people to relief camps
  • Serving cooked food
  • Clearing roads/tracks by cutting or removing damaged/uprooted trees
  • Providing first-aid medicines, safe drinking water and dry-foods to flood victims
