HIMSamwaad 2022


HIMSamwaad Conference will be organised on SDGs in the Indian Himalayan Region. The theme of HIMSamwaad 2022 is - ‘Call for localised solutions and implementation strategy’.

It will provide a platform for multiple stakeholders of the Himalayan Region (HR) to realign our integrated sustainable development approach to the new reality of the region post-COVID.

Additionally, the conference in collaboration with Dr. Y S Parmar University, Nauni and The Indian ecological society, will focus on charting a roadmap for implementing localised solutions to HR issues while agreeing on the idea of development. The book shall be an extension of the theme of the Conference.

Selected authors shall be provided with an opportunity to participate and present their papers at the Conference.

Call for Chapters

Sewa International invites researchers, academicians, professionals, practitioners, and scholars to submit their original and extended research to be published as chapters for the book titled ‘Localising SDGs in Himalayas’ which will be based on the thematic sessions on Sustainable Development Goals in the Indian Himalayan Region. The book will provide a frame of reference that arrived at an intersection of Agenda 21, a localised perspective on sustainable development goals, and contextualised within the Indian Himalayan Region.

Deadlines for Submission

  • 24 November 2022: Deadline for submission of the title of the paper and an abstract (maximum 500 words).
  • 7 December 2022: Successful participants are notified.
  • 31 December 2022: Deadline for submission of short working papers, to allow time to review.
  • 8 January 2022: Feedback on working papers
  • 15 February 2023: Deadline for submission of full-length papers as chapters.

HIM Samwaad-2022 aims to achieve the following:
  1.  Assess and reimagine the post-pandemic realities of the Himalayan region.
  2. Realign the implementation strategies for SDGs in the Himalayan region.
  3. Co-develop a platform for long-term dialogue, ideation, and collaboration between multiple stakeholders for sustainable development in the Himalayan region.
  4. Identifying areas of capacity building for effective and responsive implementation.
  5. Prototype collaborative working models for long-term sustainable development strategies for each focus area.

The conference aims to integrate the implementation strategies and working models for
community-centred sustainable development through SDGs focusing on the following 4 core areas :

What would I get, if I attend HIMSamwaad?

You would get to participate and witness an action-oriented discussion and deliberation over the Himalayan development with a variety of stakeholders from government, civil society, community and academia. You will also get an opportunity to contribute to the discussion on contemporary challenges to Himalayan development through participation in the Focus group discussions on the thematic session of the conference. Please find more information on the thematic sessions on our webpage.

Apart from the knowledge and experience, you will also get

  • To and from travel reimbursement, as per organisational policy

What is the process for participating in the conference?

  • You have to register through the form.
  • You will get a confirmation email with the details of your participation.
  • You will have to book your tickets and make your arrangements to come to the conference yourself.
  • You may send us an email or call us in case of any queries or assistance required with your travel arrangements.
  • You will be shared a form to share your travel details.
  • You shall be able to claim partial or complete reimbursement as per organisational policy of Sewa International. A form for reimbursement shall be made available during the conference.

How can I contribute or share my paper or research?

HIMSamwaad call to chapter is through a form You can share your abstract with us. The editorial board shall undertake review and we shall confirm your contribution to the book. Further details can be found on HIMSamwaad 2022 website.

How do I claim travel reimbursement for HIMSamwaad?

  • We will circulate a form for you to share your travel details before the conference,
  • You will have to attend all the 3 days of the conference
  • After the successful completion of the conference we shall share the reimbursement form
  • The form will be processed for partial or complete reimbursement, as per organisational policy, post the verification of your travel details.
  • The travel reimbursement is subject to organisational policy for the conference. Sewa International does not confirm nor warrant reimbursement of all delegates.

Call for Chapter word limit and submission date?

The word limit of the full-length paper for a peer-reviewed joint publication in the form of a book is 8,000 words including footnotes. Submission of full-length papers is expected by 15 January 2023.
