Eco-friendly Disposables: Our team in Tripura has been active for the past 5 years and are well acquainted with the locals and grassroot communities. A large number of people lost their status of employment due to Covid-19, so our interventions focused on sustainable local job creations. Best out of waste project was commenced in North-Tripura keeping in mind that Arecanut trees are found in high numbers there however sheaths are left unused after extracting nuts from it. The idea is to utilize these sheaths to transform them into some useful material which is eco-friendly as well. Organic Plates from Arecanut plant Leaf Sheaths project will provide direct and indirect jobs to local communities through organic disposable products replacing plastic/styrofoam disposables. | Reang Refugees: A program to inculcate the practice of organic/scientific fish farming and help the Reang Refugees to set up a livelihood was started in Tripura and Khowai. 30 tribal (Reang Community) fish farmers were selected in North Tripura District and 20 (Debbarma Community) in Khowai District. These farmers were then trained by scientists from ICSAR-CIFA and were provided with materials such as lime, mustard oil cake, phosphate to clean up their respective ponds. |
