Medical Camp Organised In Bhitti

“Service before Self” is an apt dictum by which we live by at Sewa International. In Kashi, a medical camp was organized for children attending the Sewa tuition centers in Bhiti village, Ramnagar, Varanasi. Dr. Jyotibhusad and Dr. N.K Singh from BHU coordinated the camp. A total of about 200 children suffering from seasonal fever, pains, diseases etc were examined. The camp was supported by the National Medical Organisation and Rashtriya Sewa Bharati. The beneficiaries were also made aware of the preventive care methods to follow for a better health, Their parents were specially educated about how to ensure that their children find the best nutrition possible at this growing stage.

I weave for a living and that is the only way to live I know. My name is Ramlal Vishwakarma, aged 70, married and a father of 5. Bunkari (weaving) is my family tradition. My friend Gulab Mohammed, 35, from Sahityanaka Tolla, married and a father of 6 is also a part of Sewa International as I am.

Sewa has been a family to us and a guiding light. We first came in contact with SI, following its 3 months basic training program to learn about designing sarees in Kardwa. Our training including guidance on how to include modern designs in our art and make sarees and dupattas from the same. Before attending the training, it was difficult for us to make ends meet for our families as our products would not be up to date with the demands of the latest market. But now, after completing the program both me and Gulab Mohammed have recently completed an order of 1 saree and 3 dupattas worth Rs 42,000. We hope to continue our association with the organization and learn more of the modern techniques of weaving. We also hope to establish our own entrepreneurial setup in the near future.

SIB is also indebted to the doctors from various provinces, various organizations who responded to its appeal for helping the flood victims. SIB appreciates the spirit of selfless service that they held throughout this crisis. A team of 50 doctors worked day and night, checking up to 2500 patients a day throughout the state. Around 10 medical vans were in continuous operation, distributing medicines and essential medical aid to the affected people.

Carrying forward school kit distribution drives as part of Sewa International’s endeavour to promote education, SIB recently conducted a school kit distribution program at Mangalam Bharti Adarsh Vidya Mandir at Kailadevi, Rajasthan. Each school kit consisted of a bag, a geometry box, a pencil box, 5 notebooks, and a drawing pad. Out of a total target of 7000 kits to be distributed this year, 600 were distributed in this event. The event was attended by Sh. Keshar Singh Ji Naruka, Sh. Brahmanand Sharma and Sh. Ashok Kumar Sharma (Principal), Deepak Singh Ji and Akhil Ji from Sewa International. Through the PMKK initiative, the youth of the region have found new skills and added motivation to innovate and improvise. SIB’s MPHRT group students undergoing Mobile Phone Repair Training in PMKK Chamba, have recently made a cost-effective mobile charger which can be sold in the markets. These efforts would go a long way in promoting entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency in the trainees.
