While millions of NRIs visit India during winter holidays for attending marriages, visiting relatives etc, only a few of them actually take time to do something worthwhile…

Dr. Subhash Chaudhary, MD dr.s(Paediatric Infectious Disease), who has been practising in the US for more than 40 years, expressed his heart-felt desire to not only attend to family matters during such visit, but to take time to do something that really “matters”..

On his request, Sewa International, with the help of Vardan Sewa Sansthan (a Multi-Specialty Charitable Hospital), Ghaziabad, organized a 2-day camp for Health-Check of the children in the nearby villages, on 29th-30th Jan 2016.

Local information campaigns were undertaken by Vardan to ensure that message reaches to all the nearby villages/schools. The response to the camp was amazing.

Though the time for the camp was from 9 am to 1 pm, Dr.Subhash simply refused to go until last sitting patient was seen, which meant staying late till 6 pm. Even the lunch was taken in a hurry at medical desk, as he insisted on seeing the patients first. We were all enamored by seeing his dedication and patience with the patients.

Overall 70 children were seen by Dr. Subhash over the 2 days. He felt that it would be nice to have a continuity of care of those children he identified with serious issues and have them properly followed up by physicians. He personally called his friend physician to see one of the child who was 8 years old with severe anemia and ensured that case was taken care of.

He had brought a lot of Toothpastes and Toothbrushes to educate kids on the importance of maintaining Oral Hygiene and distributed it among the patients.

Our sincere thanks to Mr. Vipul and Mr. Kamlesh of Vardan Hospital without whose cooperation, the event couldn’t have materialized.

Dr. Subhash Chaudhary was extremely satisfied with the amazing hands-on experience of actually providing care to the most under-served and has already taken confirmation for the camp next time he visits which we Happlily Obliged!! :)
